On Friday, Tesco celebrated it's Bags of Help campaign having helped over 10,000 projects UK wide. Bags of Help is Tesco’s exciting local community grant scheme where the money raised by the sale of carrier bags is being used to fund thousands of local projects in communities right across the UK. Projects that bring benefit to their community will get the green light – these range from improving community buildings and outdoor spaces to buying new equipment, training coaches or volunteers and hosting community events. Administration of the local funding is being managed by the community charity with a green heart, Groundwork, which specialises in transforming communities and the local environment for the better.
The Waterside Community Trust were lucky enough last year to be awarded £2000 thanks to all the customers of the Ryde, Isle of Wight Tesco who voted for us through the scheme when we were short listed as a finalist for funding.
The Waterside Community Trust were thrilled to be awarded this funding, as it helped to purchase some much needed modern pool cleaning equipment. The upgrade has really helped to ensure we maintain our high level of hygiene for our swimmers. It’s speed and efficiency allows for minimal disruption to the timetable and our customers, allowing more time for swimming !
This fantastic piece of kit cleans the pool floor, cove, walls and scrubs the waterline of the swimming pool. It has dual drive motors and split brush technology, which provides incredible manoeuvrability and coverage while its digital wireless remote gives the user pinpoint navigation and manual control. It’s advanced robotic scanning ensures complete pool coverage.
We are delighted that we could purchase this as a result of the Tesco Bags of Help scheme. Fundraising is a core part of what helps to maintain the pool facility. Now that the Trust is a registered charity, the Trustees hope that new status will open the door to further fundraising to assist with financing these improvements for the local community.
Thank you for hosting us on Friday @Tesco_SouthEast and @GwkSolent
